LEAVING THE COMFORT ZONE! . . Our brain is a wired bunch of patterns that we reinforce over time by repeating thoughts and behaviours. . . These thought patterns, emotions and behaviours are just habits that can be gradually reprogrammed over time with new ones. . . BUT what happens when we leave the COMFORT ZONE is that this CHANGE in habit causes our brain to go into FEAR mode! . . 💥TIPS TO HELP YOU SLEEP BETTER💥 - Hello my high kicking Henrietta's The quality of your sleep is extremely important for.. - 👉health 👉sanity 👉fatloss - 🍉The way to help you get a good quality kip is to make sure your “sleep hygiene “- a fancy word for sleep environment is up to scratch. - Our environment has a big impact on us so if you struggle with sleep it could be that yours that's causing you strife. - 👉🏽Make sure you don't stimulate too late my friends - Caffeine and alcohol are 2 culprits. - Alcohol people think helps them sleep but actually all it's doing is causing sleep disruption, so you may get to sleep easily but the quality of sleep will be poor. - 👉🏽Darkness for the win - Your body needs dark in order to produce the melatonin that induces sleep, so the darker the better. - Black out blinds, a sleep mask or both could change your life. I find the mask has a soothing affect on my eyes. - 👉🏽Not too hot not too cold - The wrong room temp is disruptive, I know it can be tough if you share a room,but trying to find solutions such as extra/ less bedding would be the way to go. - 👉🏽Technology management - Swiping just before bed DON'T not only does the light act affect the ability to sleep you may also see something that then plays on your mind so prevents you sleeping. - 👉🏽Clear your mind. - If you go to bed with a headful of "crazy" , stressful, this is a prime place to lie and ponder / worry so grab a note book and get them out of your head. - One thing that helps my online fat loss clients is writing all their thoughts down just before bed so doing a "mind clear" . It then gives a to do list for the next day and can make for an interesting read later on. - 👉🏽Keep it sacred - Keep the boudoir for sexy time and sleep so your mind associates your bed with one, the other or both! - 👉🏽Watch you eat - What you eat pre bed can impact your sleep so if you're struggling maybe try different things then keep a diary see join some dots. Well, it can be, and we’ve all done it at some point to our friends, partners, children & even ourselves ... • VALIDATION • When we emotionally validate someone we say; you’re not alone, I see you, I hear you, I care. You are important and I can hold space for whatever you’re going through. You’re feelings don’t frighten me. The importance of validating the experiences and emotions of the people we love, particularly our children cannot be over emphasised. Research shows it is one of THE MOST important variables of raising emotionally and behaviourally stable & healthy kids. It helps them connect they’re ‘downstairs brain’ (reactions & big feelings like fear & anger), with they’re ‘upstairs brains’ (thinking, organising & regulating emotions). • Emotional INVALIDATION on the other hand can make people feel like they’re going crazy or insane, and research shows us that ongoing emotional invalidation actually damages people, particularly children. Growing up in an emotionally invalidating environment is statistically linked to a number of  #mentalhealth disorders, in particular #bpd. Most invalidation however is unintentional. When trying to manage your child’s big feelings (or anyone’s!) avoid statements like ... ❌ • “It could be worse/at least...” ❌ • “Don’t feel/there’s no need to feel________...” ❌ •“You’re ok!”. Especially don’t say this when you see your child fall over, have a tumble off their bike, etc. ❌ • “Don’t think about it...” ❌ • “I’m sorry YOU feel that way...” or, ❌ • “I’m not talking about this” ⚠️ Emotional VALIDATION does not however mean you always agree with the other person/child’s subjective experience. Rather that you have the emotional capacity to allow the other persons emotional state to exist. • What are some of the phrases/statements you say to others to help them feel validated? 💜

It ended up there ___ Two step healing process: 1. ✔️Treat the site 2. ✔️Then everywhere else ___ Example: Knee pain (a few things to play with) 1. 💥You better check mobility everywhere. Start at the ankle, hip, thoracic spine 2. 🔥Knee is known as the kidney knee. That means check the history for kidney issues 3. 💥Nerves refer pain to the knee all the time, especially saphenous and obturator 4. 🔥Lymph issues in the groin and behind knee will screw with you. Big time 5. 💥Lack of deceleration in abdominal obliques lead to abnormal force transfer through the knee. In my mind, if your knee hurts your obliques are out to lunch ___ You get the idea. Ain’t no knee specific exercise gonna integrate all that shit ‼️ ___ Big piece of advice I give to new practitioners. Be a ‘generalist’ rockstar. Don’t go down the ‘specialization’ rabbit hole. Specialists know more and more about less and less ___ Second tip: Play with ‘generalized’ movement. Honestly, I think the best thing that happened to me in 2018 was discovering avocado toast 🥑 . And yes, I’m a millennial 😉 . But that’s not why I love it so much! For starters, who doesn’t love a crunchy piece of toast? I don’t have it very often, but when I do it’s always on gluten free bread because  #guthealth and  #inflammation. . Adding a creamy avocado topping is not only delicious, it adds a ton of health fats. This is extra important when eating carbs, like toast, so we can slow the glucose spike and make that energy last longer. . Toast with avocado? More stable blood sugar. Toast with jam? Talk about blood sugar spike! . We don’t need to fear carbs, but just learn how to appropriately time them and pair them with proteins and fats so we can best utilize them. . But what is stressful for me, may be a positive opportunity for another person. Rather then ruminate on the loss or hardship it will be for you, try to shift your thinking 💭 what a stressor is to you, might be a positive experience or growth needed for another person. Missed opportunities or loss for you may be the opportunity another person needs. Whoa. I just finished a mega impromptu photo shoot with my boy  @eldfilms ⚡️ . . I usually loathe rushing cause it would lead to an anxiety train that I couldn’t slow down. I take 6 hours on average to get ready for work (close your mouth) not kidding! I take my time, do the things that I need to do to get my energy right and be present for my clients all day . . Today though I got a call from Jono - “the snow’s really pretty, wanna shoot?” ... I had a lot to do this am, shifted a few things and did a round of my  #DNRS training to prep my limbic system and in turn, autonomic system for stress. Yup, rushing can trigger a fight or flight response and for those with a predisposition to poor gut health and anxiety and it’s key that we find ways to manage those triggers so we can stay calm and live life! . . I’m so happy with the progress from doing this training. It works. And I can’t wait to share more with you beauties. Our brains and bodies are having a hard time keeping up with the demands we put on them in this day and age. We must evolve. What’s the alternative? ✌🏻

Whatever you do today, please take a minute to read this. Yesterday I posted this photo in good fun to show my “glow up,” but I soon realized that this picture doesn’t even come close to explaining who that girl was, how she felt. I think it’s important as a coach to let others know who I once was, the places I’ve been mentally, and why I do what I do now. You wouldn’t know that I covered my face with my hair everyday and the photographer made me pull it back, raise my head, and forced a smile. Or that I hated my face, I found it repulsive and I didn’t dare smile as my cheeks were too big, or that my hair hid my severe plaque psoriasis that was all over my scalp, neck, and ears. You wouldn’t know that this girl would barely eat and run in place in her room for hours because she was too young for a gym membership. And would get up before school at 5am to do 100 sit-ups, squats, and pushups. You wouldn’t know that she lied to her parents about the school supplies she was buying online to use their credit card to buy diet pills. You wouldn’t know that her Endoc and Family Dr fought insurance for a lap band surgery that was medically needed as she was rapidly gaining weight for no reason...but it was not covered regardless of the several medical injunctions on her behalf, so it was never granted. You wouldn’t know she overheard her father yelling at the drs wanting to know what was wrong with his daughter, she wouldn’t eat and was getting sicker. You wouldn’t know that she had chronic kidney and yeast infections, from medications being prescribed. You wouldn’t know that she did everything she thought was right but was still gaining weight, developing disorders, and chronically depressed, often closing herself in her room, alone. I say all this to shed some light on the state of mental health. I was barely a teenager and was in so much turmoil and it continued into my early twenties. Autoimmune disease wreaks havoc on you mentally as well as physically. This mental state does not go away with weight loss, it will be your hardest battle. The good thing? That girl fought her way out. and you can too. I promise ❤️  #autoimmunewarrior

This morning I was talking to the girls at work about the American food industry. Discussing the discrepancies of the business and the ignorance of so many of our citizens. I was foully reminded how cruel we can be to other living things, and how selfish we are when it comes to “nourishment”. • Health is not something to be taken lightly. Neither is food production. I challenge you to take an extra second in the grocery store today and figure out more about your food! Even if that’s just reading the ingredients list, you’ll be surprised by the limited items you can even pronounce in the majority of products you purchase! • My New Years resolution is to eat more mindfully and prepare for my week in a way that makes “cheating” next to impossible. • Half of health (arguably more) is nutrition.
