Even during my winter holidays in  #switzerland I go for at least 10 Km running, then I enjoy the day with my family. What a wonderful day walking on the mountain, drinking  #coconut water  @vitacocoeu and getting fresh air . I’m sure you will all agree that we generally feel happier when the sun is shining and we get to spend more time outside. However.....even not having the summer all the year around, it’s so important to spend some time outside. It can help us destress and improve our physical and mental wellbeing. The topics would include: 🙏🏼how yoga is not about the poses. 🙏🏼Just because you can go deep doesn’t mean you should. 🙏🏼The curse of hyper mobility. And The health issues associated with hyper mobility. 🙏🏼 injury prevention and working safely into postures. 🙏🏼 difference between yoga and gymnastics. For now I’ll talk about my splits. Honestly splits are kind of triggering for me. 😜 I have two pulled hamstrings from my dancing days. They are healed but there’s a lot of scar tissue especially on the left side. I could not do the splits for decades and it was humiliating and embarrassing in the world of dance where most people could do splits. I have finally come to a point where I can work into them on the right side. It takes 90 minutes of warm-up. Generally the heat generated by my ashtanga yoga practice and the stretching of the whole back body helps immensely. I work with dynamic flexibility not static stretching. I re-pulled my hamstring’s a couple years ago and learned how to really engage my quadricep muscles to help release my hamstrings and to bring the stretch into the belly of the muscle and not the attachment where it was already weak. Flexibility is so glorified and certainly here on Instagram. But due to various different bodies not all of us will be able to get into certain postures maybe ever. For me physical wellness is about going to our own edge and working with our own bodies. What matters is how you feel not how it looks on the outside. It feels good to stretch. It does. But revel in the movement and the movement. Feel free to ask me any questions about flexibility. But enjoy findingYOUR splits. Blocks are a great help if you are tight. One under each hand. By your hips. Or a half spilts. Or. a Splits with one knee slightly bent. Have fun!! I showed up today for my workout. Not because I slept amazing (I didn’t) and I have all this extra free time (HAH). I showed up because God is revealing all the more to me how movement is a grace for me—for you. I spent so many years working in the fitness industry with the focus being mainly on aesthetics. And you know what—I’m not knocking aesthetics—but there also comes a time when you realize this is the body I was given, and I can “transform” it to an extent, but let’s be real, this twin-mama-skin ain’t going nowhere, and it’s cool. It’s cool! It’s…cool, right?😉 . I showed up because I’m learning to leverage exercise—to use fitness to serve me, to serve others. To see it as a tool. A gift. A grace. I spent too many years making it an idol. An obsession. And you know what? It’s still a mega passion, always will be—I’m just wired like that, and it’s cool. Because I get to leverage exercise to work on my behalf to allow me to do the other things God has called me to do, like motivate YOU (and, you know, the whole twin-mama thing). . It’s just another way that He takes something that the world/the enemy tried to take and turn for evil and uses it for our good/His glory, for those in Christ. I’m a MUCH better/kinder/happier mama when I’ve gotten my sweat on for the day. . Our current program’s trainer Shaun T. said today, “What’s the use in having a coffeemaker that can’t make coffee?” Meaning this. You’ve been given a limited number of days in this body. You’ve also been given tools to make it operate and function in a way that allows for physical freedom which bleeds over into spiritual/emotional/mental transformation (because God works that way—He works in and through all things!). . Movement is a grace, a gift, a tool—how are you using it to serve yourself, and thus to serve others?

Greens on Your Mind: Maybe smart people do eat more kale. A study published in the journal Neurology in December 2017 discovered that eatimg daily servings of leafy greens is associated with more youthful brains. . . Researchers at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago looked at 960 people age 58-99 over an average of 4.7 years. Responses to food-frequency questionnaires showed that those who ate the most servings of greens such as spinach, collards, and kale (a median of 1.3 servings each day) had slower rates of cognitive decline and "brains that were the equivalent of being 11 years younger in age." . . Give it up for  @lawless201 for pushing my whimpy ass this morning. I was doing a lot of whining. After all of it, here it is. This is my second set of squats at 255. I was hoping for 8. I got 9. I hate the way my belly looks with the tight belt on. I'm working on that. Pushed up 8 for 260 on the 3rd. Next is the second bench set of 10 for 165. My belly looks way better here 🤣 Then I pushed up 9 for 170 on the 3rd set. Here's some single leg and single arm work. Have a great Wednesday!

Pack lunch like a pro! For whatever reason I dread packing my kids’ lunches BUT I get so much joy from packing my own! So I’m running 🏃🏻‍♀️ with it! 🙌 Why do packed lunches rule??? Packing a lunch saves you money, the food will most likely be healthier & more nutritionally, and it’s nice to just have it there versus thinking, “what will I eat today?!?!?🤔” Here’s the game plan folks: 1) Grab a reusable sack that you ❤️ and that will hold all your containers (<~this is important) good news is that it doesn’t have to be fancy. Mine is a reusable grocery bag! 2) Cloth napkin & placemat, metal utensils, glass/stainless containers and a cup you love! Because we’re civilized! No seriously though, it’s like a little treat in the chaos of the day. 3) Fill your containers with protein, healthy fats, and veggies. 4) I love a little post lunch tizzy (  #arbonnefizzsticks &  #arbonnedetoxtea) it’s like a little desert. 5) Protein shake for fuel in between classes (I teach for 6 hours and only have a 10” break). So having this easy button keeps me from craving things from the cafe or vending machine. Good afternoon ladies and gents, remember that mental health is just as important as physical. Even more so these days! Life is a mental warfare, it’s easy to be manipulated into believing what’s good for you and what isn’t when you love and care for someone. You see past all the red flags and settle for instant gratification. Don’t veer away from your reasoning, your happiness, and most importantly yourself. You can forget who you are over the course of an emotionally abusive relationship with a friend or lover. You shouldn’t have to beg for attention, assurance or affection. Those are signs of a one sided relationship. If someone really cared about you they will support you always, and even in your biggest failures or smallest mistakes they’ll send love and encourage positive feedback. Remember to rely on yourself for happiness. Rely on yourself for emotional and physical growth. Remember what you deserve and don’t settle for anything less than. This is your journey, you must be the change and positive force you seek within yourself. We become who we think we are with outside critics, and your own criticism. There will always be a battle to fight. The way to stay the course is to always be willing to adjust and overcome the challenges within. My sciatica has literally been that thorn in my side. I had the option to just call it quits, until the doctor finds a solution, but I know that wouldn’t get me closer to my goal. So again I look at my other options and I dive in. Cardio, running, walking the hills may not be on the table, but I have my upper body, arms and abs I can freely use. There are always other options, don’t give in and especially don’t give up!

Core 💀 . . I found this awesome core workout on  @lindseylivingwell ‘s page and I’m in LOVE. Core is my worst enemy but these exercises were quick and comfortable for my body - although, my form needs so much improvement from what I used to do. If you’re at an intermediate level of working out I highly recommend this workout (works great for home or gym)! • Plank with DB move • Bicycle DB pass • Weight jackknife • In and out crunch • Pike crossbody toe tap To start, I did as much as my body could allow to get a reference point as to where I’m at. My new favorite thing. This Fitbit is actually my son’s. He saved up the money to get it only to use it a few times. I found it at the bottom of one (we have several) of our junk drawers. I revived it and put it to good use. It’s now part of my accountability year. It’s keeping track of my physical activity but it’s also a constant reminder that I can do better. Started out with some easy goals to hopefully have some early successes to keep me moving forward. How can you gauge progress if you don’t know where you started from? Today I tested my cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength. 🍽 Perkins Thai Noodles at the Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen in  @waltdisneyworld were phenomenal!
