TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY . Posing is a bit different but I think you can see the progress. Picture on the left is from last week, picture on the right is from December 2016, after over a year into weightlifting. In the left picture I weigh roughly 155-160lbs and in the picture on the right I was probably 135-140lbs. You can clearly see my stomach isn’t as tight and flat but that’s because I’ve been building muscle over the past couple years.. . One thing I can not stress enough, if you want to put on muscle, the scale is going to go up and so is your body fat %!!!! You cannot gain muscle without gaining fat as well . Proud of the booty gains & excited to keep on building this body ✨

terrified of posting this tbh. here goes nothing. - ⠀⠀ 1st photo: 15 years old, about 57kg. i was in a very, very dark place, i was depressed and saw absolutely no point in living. i was a mess, couldn’t control the way i ate... i restricted one day, then overate the next, then beat myself up for it, and the vicious cycle kept going on and on... i would lie to my friends to avoid going out, telling them i was sick or that i had other plans... i was so lost and miserable. i felt useless and not worthy of being alive. thank goodness i went to therapy because without it i dont think i’d be where i am today. get help if you’re struggling! - ⠀⠀ 2nd photo: 16 years old, about 46kg. i ate 700 calories a day. ran 10km easily 3-4 times per week. i was confident because i was skinny, my happiness depended on external validation and the compliments i received about my body. - ⠀⠀ 3rd photo: 18 years old (19 next month 😇), about 61kg. eating 2400 calories a day (  #bulklife) and lifting weights 6 times a week. i am confident because i truly am at peace with myself and stopped victimising myself. i have FULL control over my life and although shit happens, it’s out of my hands and i’ve learned to accept it and to take responsibility for the way i react. - ⠀⠀ i’m posting this to remind everyone that no matter how dark things may seem right now, there is light at the end of the tunnel IF YOU CHOOSE TO GET TO THE END OF THE TUNNEL! take control over your life because no one else but you has that power. you have a choice. you can choose to do nothing and feel shit about yourself, or you can take action and change your current situation. - ⠀⠀ this is more than just a physical transformation. our bodies reflect what’s going on inside us mentally. i take care of myself physically now because i feel at peace inside and am doing it from a place of self-love, not self-hatred. focus on your mental health first, it’ll do you wonders. stop turning to external sources of validation because they’re completely out of your control!! realise your own self-worth because that’s what you have full ownership of. - ⠀⠀ that’s all for today kids, happy  #transformationtuesday

Since everyone seems to be posting their starting point... Here’s a lil physique update ⬆️ I’m about 18 weeks out from my first show of the season, but I won’t start prep until around the 10-12 week mark. Weight is sitting around 128lbs and 13% bf. - This is the happiest I’ve ever felt about my body in the offseason. I’ve been eating intuitively for several months, and enjoying occasional cheat meals. My goal was to learn by body and fuel it based on what makes me feel the best... and I think I can say mission accomplished! Taking it up a notch these next few weeks to try to put on a bit more size in my upper body before it’s time for shreds 🙃

Let’s talk about chest....for years I did not work out my chest mainly because a man once told me I would end up with unattractive boobs 🖕🏻. _____ Then  @fitforthefallen 🖤 entered my life and chest became one of my favorite things to train. Girls please don’t be like me and think you’ll have funny looking breasts if you train chest, because you won’t!!!!! Here are a few reasons why it’s beneficial to train chest: *You could improve your posture. *You could start to breathing easier. *You could make your breasts perkier (if you want). *You could make every day living a little easier. For example: if your chest is stronger you can open heavy doors easier. _____ Here are a few clips of exercises I complete on chest day: I complete 4 sets - 10 reps, 8 reps, 6 reps, 4 reps for each exercise. I start at a lower weight and then work up in weight. *Flat Dumbbell Bench Press (I did five in the video because I can’t count 🤣) *Flat Dumbbell Flys: (not videoed because my camera man messed up 🙊) *Incline Dumbbell Bench Press *Incline Dumbbell Flys *High Cable Fly *Low Cable Fly *Push Ups (6 sets of 10 reps completed between each set of the cable flys - not videoed)

in honour of  #humpday here’s the king of all glute exercises - the barbell hip thrust 👑 i always end my sets with an isometric hold with the last rep for a real good burn 😈 swipe for the full workout - i’m posting this so that people, especially girls, don’t become afraid of going HEAVY! literally getting bulky should be the least of your worries. i STRONGLY recommend tracking your workouts (reps/weights etc) to monitor your progress and to make sure you can accurately apply progressive overload over time! also it’s gratifying to look back at workouts from months ago and see how far you’ve come 😇

It’s  #clientofthemonth time y’all! December was a blur, so January goes to this  #beautyandabeast ! Schuyler has been working with me for just about a year now, she came to me in the beginning for partner training with her bestie and client of mine Kristine, and eventually became a one on one client! I can’t say enough about Schuyler. She is a single mom of one sassy little girl, runs an apartment complex like the boss lady she is, and is a hard ass worker in the gym. I hear from time to time, “you could kick my ass a little harder”... well ok then! Not to mention she also commutes from Scappoose twice a week to train with me before the sun rises, talk about  #commitment. She’s down inches and pant sizes and up in strength and confidence. STRENGTH VS HYPERTROPHY It’s pretty simple You train for strength with lower reps, higher weight For example, I did heavy squats before this 275x8 While this is on the higher end of strength training, I’m doing a cut so all of my sets are higher volume Hypertrophy training is centered around obtaining muscle size and definition For the leg press, I’m pushing for hypertrophy (ideally hit by a 10-12 rep scheme for most people) — 305lbs w/the weight of the machine added For overall balance between strength and aesthetics, it’s great to hit high and low rep ranges High rep ranges create maximum pump and helps with muscular endurance Low reps help with strength and maximal output so you’re not lacking

Nutrition is all about balance and consistency! I've been working on fueling my body but also not depriving my body. If I want a cinnamon bun **Best buns from my ladies  @cafebluerooster with a shake before lifting heavy I'll have it.. Am I lean & strong, by my definition No not lean but getting stronger! But 1 thing I am is confident and content with my body composition (yes I could drop about 10lbs of fat to be more athletic) but that will come without the "diet" mentality and sticking to MY program! 2018 I never cut weight once for a competition, maintained my weight (2018-2019 I went up 7lbs only and that was the last 2 mths of the year with added stress, no excuse tho) and most often the lightest in my class and I'm cool with that... *Trust me, I've been on enough diets and scale variations! The key is being 110% confident ladies and content in YOUR own progress and abilities. Everyone is always getting caught up in what Sally or Betty are doing.... This quote spoke to me and absolutely brought me to tears (period probz) But really, I feel like this quote was meant for me to see. I’ve been so down on myself lately because I’m not in the shape I was a year ago. I’m equally as strong, but my body fat percentage is higher and I’m not a size 4. And seeing this post made me realize... THAT ISNT IMPORTANT. Yes, my health is important and the way I feel is important. So I’m working not to get back to a size 4 or a certain weight, but I’m working to feel better about myself and my body. And along the way I’m going to be more kind to myself and my body. No more negative talk about skipping the gym because I worked 12 hours and I’m super tired. It stops here. My body is amazing and it’s done amazing things, it takes me everywhere and has put up with soooo much from me. It’s put up with starvation, fad diets, eating way too much sugar and junk, and cardio until I’m going to fall over. And it’s still here every day and shows up for me and hasn’t given in. I’m healthy, and that’s because my body is strong. So on my journey I’m going to be more positive and no more negative feelings towards myself. I’m great at lifting up my clients and I need to remember to do the same for myself. Like my sister told me this morning, “you can do anything, you’re super woman!”❤️

|| Neuropathy & Fitness || ••• when I was first diagnosed with breast cancer, one of my main goals (other than to kick cancers ass) was to maintain my physical activity. Little did I know that the side effects of the chemotherapy would effect my body in ways I least expected, one of which was the result of peripheral neuropathy. Soon after I began my AC (adriamycin & cytoxan) treatments, I began having tingling and numbness in my hands and feet, which soon turned into loss of feeling in my fingertips. Once late Fall hit and the upstate NY temperatures began to drop, my ability to be in the cold due to the neuropathy became harder and harder as did my ability to hold a strong grip. Two years after completing six months worth of chemo, I still have numbness in my fingers at times, I can’t be in the cold for too long without my hands and feet losing circulation, and I still don’t have a strong grip which effects a lot of heavy upper body lifting. Today, I decided to try out a pair of Versa Gripps during my back workout to see if I would notice a change in my ability to grip any better having a secure hold on the bar and dumbbell. After getting through a few sets of lat pulldowns, I realized I was able to focus more on muscle contraction than my grip slipping. The most noticeable difference for me was in single arm dumbbell rows, which have also been the most difficult for me. Continuing to be able to move everyday will always be the goal for me, being able to push myself to reaching new goals will always be an added bonus.
