If you want to try adding deadlifts into your workouts, I often suggest beginning with Kettlebell Sumo Deads to start. This gives you the opportunity to learn the movement with greater stability as well as keeping the weight manageable. Remember: The deadlift is a hinge NOT a squat. The movement should be through your hips. It's called a "Deadlift" because you do just that, lift dead weight. So bouncing lots of heavy weight off the ground not only puts you at risk of injury, but completely defeats the purpose and benefits of the lift. Tips: Start from the bottom. Set up a routine to to cue yourself to brace your core and prepare for the lift, then repeat it before each rep. Like a basketball player does before each free throw, it becomes habit. This way as you move into heavier weight, your form will be set and wont be compromised! I superset with reverse slider lunches for reps of 12-15/leg. 👌🏼

*Thai red curry - full of coconut, aubergine, sweet potato & chickpeas goodness* I love this recipe as it's versatile when I comes to the vegetables (use up whatever you have in the kitchen), the chickpeas are a great source of protein & fibre and all the vegetables & sweet potato make it so filling! The recipe is delicious and the ingredients are basic and healthy, but add lemongrass or more flavours if you have them at home! Recipe:- 1 Tbsp of oil 2 Tbsp minced ginger 5 cloves garlic, minced 2 medium shallot, minced 1-2 hot red chili's or powder 3 Tbsp red Thai curry paste (if you don't have time to make a homemade paste) 1 medium red bell pepper (chopped) 1 cup chopped aubergine 1 sweet potato chopped or cubed 1 - 2  cans light coconut milk 1 heaping tsp ground turmeric 1can chickpeas (well rinsed and drained) 1 cup green peas / sugarsnap peas (I prefer frozen peas totally optional) fresh basil (only for serving ) Method 1.Heat a large pot over medium heat. Once hot, add oil, ginger, garlic, and shallots. Sauté for 2-3 minutes or until slightly softened. 2. Add chili and red curry paste. Stir to combine and cook and stir for one minute more 3. Add red pepper, aubergine, potato and stir to coat. Then add coconut milk, turmeric, and chickpeas. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Then reduce heat to low and continue cooking (do not cover) for 10-15 minutes. * I don't love too much coconut milk so I just use 1+1/2 cans 4. Taste and adjust flavor as needed, adding sea, sugar or more spice. For more heat, add a bit more curry paste (or a little cayenne pepper). 5. I Added peas (as I love them but add whatever greens you like its totally optional), stir, and cook for 5 minutes more. Then serve over rice or cauliflower rice. Garnish with fresh basil. Store in the fridge up to 3-4 days. 6. 🔥L-sit How NOT to🔥 L-sits are one of the best core exercises out there, but without proper technique you're not getting the most out of it. . . 📍Common mistakes ◾Bent knees ◾Legs straight but not parallel to the ground If you find it difficult to hold your legs fully extended, that might be your hamstring flexibility holding you back. Do a bit of streching and see how that goes. Now if you just cant get your legs high enough, work on regressions of the L-sit and focus more on strength training. 🇬🇧 . . . The plank is a foundational exercise that not only builds strength and endurance in your core musculature, but conditions your body to maintain stiffness in order to transfer forces efficiently & effectively from the ground up in all sports as well as preventing injury during daily activities (most commonly low back). ⁣⁣ .⁣⁣ There’s more to the plank than the usual cues of “keep your back straight” and “lower your hips”. Here are some of the most important cues you can use to master your plank:⁣⁣ .⁣⁣ ➡️ feet together ⁣⁣ ➡️ weight distributed across your forearms ⁣⁣ ➡️ hands apart ⁣⁣ ➡️ shoulders stacked directly on top of elbows ⁣⁣ ➡️ chin down ⁣⁣ ➡️ forearms pressed into the ground to separate your shoulder blades ⁣⁣ ➡️ brace your abdomen⁣⁣ ➡️ squeeze your glutes! Getting back into my old style of high intensity workouts and it feels great. First time doing box jumps since before I got pregnant with Daisy, thankfully I didn’t fall on my face. Little bit achey and tired, which isn’t easy when looking after two little ones but feeling energised and stronger by the day. I’ve never been good at doing things half arsed. Training is where my all or nothing trait can be a bonus because if I’ve got a goal in mind I love just cracking on with it full throttle. More gym fun & poor💡  # The only time I use the smith machine is for hanging leg raises and L-sits. I position the bar to keep my legs perfectly parallel with the ground in L-sit form. I like to keep the tempo at a slower pace to avoid swinging which forces me to focus on strictly using my core to raise my legs up. # I hope you find a spot in the gym today with crappy lighting and loud talking to GET SOME!!!!! 💪🏽💥👊🏼
