Day 6 of  #7daysforeverybody and it’s time to compliment myself. This can be hard for a lot of people, especially women. We are so hard on ourselves. We pick at ourselves. I’m definitely a repeat offender of that. I did it yesterday in my transformation post. It’s hard to be gentle with ourselves. But we are all doing the best we can. ... One compliment I have for myself is β€œYOU ARE STRONG!” I am so proud of how far I have gone with my strength. My muscle mass is high, which I am so happy about, and I can carry and lift things I couldn’t before. Because of my strength and muscle mass, I am healthier, leaner. So I am proud to say I am strong. I am a strong woman and I can do anything I set my mind to. This is where nutrition comes in and the key is to be in a calorie deficit so that it’s possible to drop body fat. Remember: a calorie deficit isn’t just about eating less, there is more that comes into this equation and it’s important to be accurate when calculating the correct calories for you.- βœ”οΈdon’t forget that everyone holds their fat differently. Whether you can see your abs will depend on where you store your fat. Generally, I can still have visible abs when I’m not as lean as most of my fat is stored in my legs. Unfortunately, we have little control over where we store and lose fat first. - βœ”οΈAnother factor to consider is your levels of stress. If you’re stressed, there’s a possibility that you may be more likely to hold fat or fluid around your midsection. Also with stress, often you will not digest food as well which leads to bloating which will be a great hiding place for your absπŸ‘ŽπŸ½ - βœ”οΈTrain! Focus on compound exercises and train to help reduce body fat. POSTERIOR CHAIN TRAINING πŸ‘πŸ§šπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ . . What is posterior chain training ? Posterior chain stand for the muscle groups on the backside of the body including hamstrings, glutes, erector spinae, & traps. . . I started my workout warming up the glutes with some across the floor band work. I will make a separate video demonstrating some of those exercise because it is crucial & necessary to warm up the glutes before a leg workout for optimal results πŸ“ˆ . . I then started my workout with some simple but effective main lifts: . 1️⃣ RDLs: legs shoulder width apart, barbell slides down your thigh to about a couple inches below your knee (depending on your flexibility) as you do so make sure to push your hips back feeling the stretch in your hamstrings and glutes. Bring the bar back up locking out the knees to starting position. . . 2️⃣ OVER HAND GRIP ROWS: same stance as RDLs, now you will hold that position and bring your elbows back, this will target the middle and upper portion of the back. Release arms to starting position without letting your shoulders to round forward. . . Incorporated a few other exercises in between like glute bridges, step ups, kb rows, & super mans. I had a really sweet girl message me the other day, to ask me what maximum weights I was currently lifting. She was asking because she wanted to know how heavy she could lift without looking bulky, as she only wanted to build β€˜lean muscle’. I explained to her the misconception that weights will make you bulky, to which she replied that the issue was, every time she was lifting weights with her β€˜coach’ (I use that term loosely 🀨) he stops her from picking up any heavier weights because HE tells her they’ll make her bulky. My response? TIME TO GET A NEW COACH!!! For the last six months I’ve been doing very minimal cardio (I’m talking 3 x 30 minute walks per week) and lifting very heavy weights, which have increased every week. I would hardly look at me and say that I’ve turned into the hulk πŸ˜‚. Want to be lean and toned? You need to change your body composition by increasing your muscle mass and reducing your body fat. This is done effectively with weight lifting, and good nutrition. Do NOT be scared to lift heavy! And when you’re looking for a coach, do your research. Question their methods and reasoning, and if they can’t give you a legitimate answer, it’s a sign to look elsewhere. And if they try to tell you the same bogus thing that this one was telling this girl, RUN A DAMN MILE! πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ’¨

πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ Hybrid Athlete πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ Strong, fit, agile πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ It kind of amazes me that I was so convinced by people pro running and pro lifting that you couldn't train both concurrently πŸ˜… I mean... the  @allblacks, Special Forces,  @crossfit athletes, multisport athletes.... the list goes on 🌟 Goal for 2019 is to figure out the balance between the two with the major focuses being training split, effort, nutrition and recovery πŸ’ͺ It's not a matter of training twice as much or twice as hard and stacking marathon training on top of a typical lifting split πŸ€— it's about prioritising nutrition and recovery and training efficiently to maximise benefits in both areas πŸ‘‘ I'm figuring out what works as I go but at the moment my training split is: 2 rest days, 4 x 1 hour weight sessions, 1 x hill OR speed work (15-30 min), 1 x tempo run (30-60 min) and 1 x long run (1-2 hours). I’m sure your over my  #gymselfies πŸ˜† But haven’t had much time to record workouts due to doc appts...πŸ˜’ Speaking of docs, also found out that both my quads are strained. Which means REST & no lower body work(squats & etc) but ah thinking I was just sore of I did legs yesterday... but it was nothing crazy. Now knowing exactly what’s going on . Gotta make sure I rest. Which is gonna be tough being I feel I was making good progress with my fitness goals. Lately my workouts are consistent of  #fullbody trying to become more fluent with moving around with weight. So I’ve included different ways of KB swings , push ups , core work etc. Which is giving me really good/ decent calorie burn during the routine 😁. Lat pull down - Standing variation One of my top 3 favourite lat exercises! Using a wide bar, hinge forward slightly from the hips and plant the feet. Engage the lats/core extend the arms up and infront of you. Drive the arms down and through to the tops of your thighs. Be careful not to hold any tension in the back or neck Great for improving core stability, control, posture (when done correctly) and lat growth Apologies for the poor lighting!

 #ThrowbackWednesday This was when I was leannnn about a year ago. Super clean eating and no heavy push with weights. I haven’t been this small in awhile and don’t plan on going back to it.
